Witness Me! – 31 Oct 2015

Greetings, Monster Meat!

Sorry it took so long to post this. I saved as draft and then went on vacation without publishing it. Super long post today, so here we go!

In our extra-special Halloween episode, the party found themselves with an invitation to enter the Iron Hold as a part of Raskurro’s merry band of cannibals. The party arrived with six members of The Fighting Nexu mercenary company posing as slaves in the hopes of claiming the significant reward promised by their employers. They were greeted by Gassan, Raskurro’s right-hand and the individual that met Theed outside of Raskurro’s ship.

Having met the slaving outfit at the specified location, staff of the Iron Hold arrived precisely on time in a small convoy of two prisoner transportation landspeeders. They loaded the first speeder with all of the slaves provided by Raskurro and company. They were then directed onto the other speeder, outfitted with an extremely well-appointed interior that even included refreshments and a large cushion for Hutt comfort. All guests including the party were required to stash their weapons in a lockbox, but Theed managed to convince the guards to allow him to maintain possession of his vibrorapier, charming them with stories of its sentimental value as a family heirloom.

Before long, the speeders arrived at the gate of the Iron Hold. Guests and slaves alike were unloaded from their speeders as the great gates opened and a man who identified himself as the Warden appeared within a cluster of guards. The Warden delivered a speech to greet his guests, while the slaves were being escorted to their temporary pens and the lockbox containing the party’s gear was stashed in safe room. The Warden promised a preview of the fights to come, and along with his guards led the party and the remainder of the guests to the Shockboxing arena, though on this night it would be used for a more vicious affair. In the center of the arena stood a Wookiee with a vibroaxe in each hand. In the cages attached to the arena were five slaves, sent to fight for their freedom against the reigning champion as punishment for their insubordination. The bell sounded and the cages were opened, but the prisoners were unable to coordinate their attack and one by one fell to the rage and violence of the Wookiee.

During the fight, all party members but Gareth (who was fascinated by the spectacle before him) noticed an extremely well dressed Twi’lek woman approach Dasha, who froze in her presence. She said something that made Dasha lower her head, and then brushed some makeup from one of Dasha’s lekku (headtails) revealing a scar and a tattoo. She said something with a sharp look on her face, and walked away.

Following the brief and bloody fight, the Warden had the guests escorted to their quarters which, though luxurious and spacious, were in reality a retrofitted cell block that locked only from the outside. This was not done with any ill-intent, but rather just making the best use of the resources at hand. Two guards were posted outside the cell block door and the party was permitted time alone to rest. Pouring some drinks and discussing Dasha’s encounter, it was revealed that she was in fact a slave prior to connecting with the party on Nar Shaddaa. She escaped without completing her servitude and had been on the run since. The woman that approached her at the fight is, in fact, her owner.

During the conversation, Theed saw a shadow move rapidly across the door of the party’s private quarters. Going into the hall to investigate, he saw nothing. Before he could re-enter the room, he was hit on the head by something unseen. Explaining to the rest of the party that he was attacked, they headed back to their quarters for safety.

Some time later the prison alarm system sounded and the primary power turned off. With emergency lights flickering inconsistently and the sound of blaster fire through the walls, the group decided to check on Raskurro and crew in their own private quarters, across the cell block hall. Receiving no answer to their knocks, the group entered the quarters only to find both Raskurro and his guards dead with holes burned through their chests. Gassan was nowhere to be found.

As they exited the quarters, a skittering sound emanated from within the ceiling above their heads and periodically continued, following the party as they moved. Unable to determine the source of the sound or find anyone else alive, the party opted to leave the cell block. As they approached the blast door, they were able to see a partially-mutated guard in the control room. Knocking on the blast door yielded no results, so R0-81T and Gareth set to work unlocking the blast door from the inside. As they started, a ceiling panel burst open and mutated creatures later identifed as Rakghouls poured into the cell block and attacked Theed and Dasha. The group did eventually manage to destroy all six creatures, but not before Dasha took a significant claw attack. Eventually getting the door unlocked and pushing it open slightly, Gareth grabbed a blaster rifle from a dead guard and started firing into the mass of monster flesh. The fight terminated with Dasha cutting down two ghouls with a kitchen knife, while R0-81T punched the head of a Rakghoul clean off, only to have it strike another mutant on the ceiling causing it to fall onto a pile of debris.

Finding themselves momentarily safe, the crew of The Encounter decided to exit their cell block while they had the chance, and head to the armoury so that they could pick up their gear. Unable to remain undetected by the Rakghoul hordes in the main yard, the party was chased into the armoury and managed to slam the door behind them just in the nick of time. A quick hack opened the lockbox, and their weapons were recovered. However, the group now found themselves trapped in an armoury with rakghouls swarming the other side of the only door.

After some deliberation, the party decided it was time to hit the air ducts. If vicious bloodthirsty mutants could traverse them, then why couldn’t sentient outlaws as well? They climbed up into the ducts and made their way single-file over the yard, stopping periodically to view the chaos of blood, claws, and blaster fire below. Eventually however, they reached a four foot gap ripped into the duct and were forced to attempt to traverse it without plummeting to the ground below. Gareth was the first to try to cross, but managed to slip on the slick metal and fall through the gap, landing on a dead rakghoul on the catwalk below and knocking the wind from his lungs. Theed lowered a rope to help Gareth climb up, and R0-81T climbed over its teammates and across the gap to the other side of the duct.

Seeing the raw, sentient equivalent of a fishing lure on the end of a line, a group of rakghouls charged towards Gareth. R0-81t managed to take down some from a distance, but one ran across the underside of the air duct and made it to the gap just as Gareth was retrieved. The rakghoul lashed out and managed to get its claws into Theed before R0-81T could blast it. Feeling an immediate burning in the claw wound but otherwise unharmed, Theed shook himself off and the party continued through the duct to the other side of the vent, over the guard barracks.

Jumping down under threat of blaster fire, the party explained to the residents of the barracks that they were on their way to the Warden’s office so that they could determine the location of their primary objective – Gareth’s cousin. During this negotiation, Dasha noticed one of the guards sweating and flushed; common symptoms of poisoning. Opting to not take any chances with one of their own mutating into a rakghoul, the remainder of the guards threw their colleague over the catwalk and onto the floor below. Using this opportunity, the party convinced the guards to provide the location of the Warden’s office and draw a crude map of the facility. The guards, however, refused to accompany the party and instead chose to remain in the relative safety of their own barracks.

The party left the barracks and made their way across the catwalk to the Warden’s office. Peering into the window they noticed the office was trashed, but otherwise unoccupied. They entered the room and made their way to the computer terminal in hopes of finding the location of their objective. They noticed large claw marks in the door, and Dasha pulled out her thermal scanners to check the room over. Through the door of the Warden’s private washroom, she saw the unmistakable thermal signature of a humanoid creature roughly seven feet tall.

Theed attempted to open the door and look inside, but it was being held shut from the other side. He attempted to engage in conversation with the creature on the other side of the door, who responded in a deep gravelly voice and inquired about the location of “Master”. Theed managed to coax the creature out, revealing an enormous rakghoul-Human hybrid wearing the tattered clothes of the Warden and carrying an electrostaff.

Meanwhile, R0-81T broke into the Warden’s computer and managed to find signs of activity from the Iron Hold security droids, fighting back against the Rakghoul tide but finding themselves overwhelmed. Additionally, R0-81T was able to find information on Gareth’s cousin, who was admitted to the infirmary following an injury during a shock-boxing match.

After some attempts at negotiation, Theed lost control of an already tenuous conversation with an aggressive and confused creature after the Warden-thing caught R0-81T hacking the Iron Hold network on the Warden’s personal computer. It charged at Theed, striking out with the electrostaff and knocking him back.

All hell broke loose as the party fought the Warden-thing within the confined space of the office. Blasters were fired and swords unsheathed, but the creature didn’t seem to be hindered whatsoever by the party’s barrage. It was making quick work of some of the party members, when a lucky blaster shot destroyed the electrostaff and opened the creature up to attacks.

Taking this bit of damage enraged the creature even more, who lashed out with the Force against R0-81t and Dasha, sending them flying into the office wall with an extremely powerful telekinetic blast. R0-81T found itself knocked prone under the desk, and used this opportunity to dig in and take aim at the creature. Meanwhile, Theed and Dasha pressed the attack with sword and knife while Gareth continued to blast away with his prized Nova Blaster.

Truly a situation of death by 1000 paper cuts, the creature slowly began to show damage. Pressing the attack, it launched another telekinetic barrage, even more powerful than the last. Three of the party members were picked up in the air and flung backwards, with enough force to cause significant injury and shatter the Tibanna Gas magazine within Gareth’s Nova Blaster. Unable to continue firing, he drew his sword as well and closed with the creature.

With critical wounds tallying up on both the party and the creature, Theed knew that he didn’t have much time left in the fight. He launched himself into the air with his vibrorapier extended, screaming “Witness Me” as he swung at the creature. With an accurate strike, Theed managed to slice clear through the creatures shoulder and lop off its arm, before the creature countered with another telekinetic blast that flung Theed into a wall, knocking him unconscious as a silver marker from the Warden’s desk burst over Theed’s face. To Valhalla.

With the creature on the ropes, Gareth moved in and blinded it with a strike across the eyes from his vibrosword, forcing the creature to its knees. Still stirring, the party (minus Theed) managed to finish it off.

It was at this point that we took a break, the party exhausted from their fight. The campaign will continue with the party bravely facing the catastophe within the Iron Hold.

Do You Like Piña Coladas? – 21 Oct 2015

Greetings, Walking Steak-People!

In this session the party finalized their plans for the raid on the Iron Hold, killed an angry Trandoshan, and walked into Raskurro’s Restaurant.

Having knocked out a Trandoshan at The Sleazy Sarlaac last session, R0-81T and Gareth dragged him into a back alley and cuffed him to a drain pipe attached to the wall of a building. They revived him and attempted to ask him some questions, but received nothing but threatening responses and angry stares. Still annoyed from having to fight, R0-81T and Gareth wasted no time initiating torture of the poor captured individual (named Slissk). R0-81T used its own batteries to jolt Slissk into semi-consciousness, after which Gareth regained his attention by lopping off a horn with his vibroknife. This only caused Slissk to get angrier and attempt to kick Gareth, nearly pulling the pipe off the wall in the process. The pair called Dasha, who showed up in a speeder to pick up the group while Theed continued to sleep off his hangover on the ship.

Once the party returned to the ship, they strapped Slissk to a gurney and attempted to resume the interrogation. R0-81T continuously threatened to remove parts of Slissk’s body, and Dasha attempted to inject him with a neuroparalytic to stop the thrashing although the syringe only broke off on the scaly skin. Eventually the combination of Dasha mentioning The Butcher along with R0-81T removing a toe caused Slissk to take notice, and even work out a deal. He would talk in exchange for being allowed to walk off the ship relatively intact. The party agreed to his terms, and Slissk gave them the skinny on Raskurro the Butcher and his enterprise trading slaves, both alive and as meat to those with such predilections. Satisfied with the information, the party attempted a “deal with the devil” sort of fulfillment of their end of the agreement, deciding to let Slissk walk off the ship, but in orbit. Gareth returned to the cockpit to pilot the ship, while Theed continued to sleep having woken up only long enough to clean up his own vomit.

Dasha and R0-81T exited the medical bay, only to hear a loud bang and clatter. The moment that he heard the engines powering up, Slissk erupted with rage at being deceived. He tipped the gurney, breaking it into pieces, and charged through the medbay door at R0-81T and Dasha in a furious blood rage. He fixated on Dasha, charging her with his claws and causing a couple of critical wounds in the process. Theed, meanwhile, heard the commotion and awoke from his slumber. He grabbed his Vibrorapier from the wall of his quarters and managed to sneak up to just behind Slissk before stabbing him through. Throughout this brawl, Gareth remained blissfully unaware of the events unfolding below the cockpit. He continued to fly the ship into orbit, bopping along to the hottest galactic pop music and wondering if he did, in fact, like piña coladas.

Unfortunately, the combined efforts of Dasha, R0-81T, and Theed were not quite enough to drop the big lizard. In a great display of leadership, Theed called up to Gareth and instructed him to disable the intertial dampeners on the ship and pull into a hard turn, while shouting at everyone else to “hold on!”. The party managed to grab onto something as Gareth performed a high-G maneuver which caused Slissk to fly into the nearest bulkhead, rendering him unconscious. Gareth put the ship on autopilot, walked down to the medbay, and executed Slissk with a single blaster shot before throwing him out of the airlock. The party took this opportunity to sleep off their strain and lick their wounds before heading back down to Sleheyron.

Having discovered who and what Raskurro the Butcher was, the group went to the small outlaw spaceport at which Raskurro’s Hutt Pleasure Skiff was parked. They managed to convince the attending staff that they were there on business, as Slissk had mentioned that Raskurro was having trouble procuring the necessary roster of fighters prior to the slave shockboxing event at the Iron Hold. Having been accepted into the spaceport, Theed made his way down to the Pleasure Skiff while the remainder of the group waited in the terminal.

Theed met with Raskurro’s lieutenant, who agreed to grant a discussion with the Hutt after minimal convincing. Theed was led through the cargo bay full of slaves, past the meat locker, and into the Hutt’s private quarters where Raskurro was toying with a Twi’lek slave. Although it was an extremely difficult negotiation, Theed did eventually manage to impress Raskurro with his knowledge of Hutt Shell Armour and convinced the corpulent Hutt to allow him an opportunity to prove himself as a slaver. He promised to deliver fighters to Raskurro before the shockboxing event in several days’ time, and left.

The party then discussed this plan with Trex, and eventually got on comms with their on-call mercenary outfit, The Fighting Nexu. They informed them of a plan and stated that they would need a group of fighters including at least one experienced demolitionist, and a half-dozen strong looking men to act as gladiatorial slaves. The mercenary company agreed to do such a dangerous mission for an exorbitant fee, after which Theed returned to Raskurro and negotiated terms.

Raskurro agreed to include Theed and his companions as a part of his entourage into The Iron Hold, maintaining ownership of their own slaves, on one condition. Theed would pay Raskurro 70% of all winnings and earnings collected during the event. The two shook hands in the traditional Hutt fashion, and Theed was on his way.

Next Session the party enters The Iron Hold! Now is a good time to include any preparations that you would like to make beforehand, and hash out some plans.

Slissk: What do you want to know?
R0-81T: How long it will take your leg to grow back after I cut it off.

Dasha: He paid for his own funeral… no more Trandoshans!

Theed: People don’t like becoming steaks. Who would have thought?!

The Drinking Contest – 9 Oct 2015

Hello and happy Long Weekend!

In our last session, the party went into town to search for connections to the Iron Hold Shockboxing league / slave trade. Hoping to find someone invited to the next event, the party split up to maximize their odds.

Gareth and R0-81T visited The Sleazy Sarlaac, a dive bar known for its violent entertainment and even more violent clientele. Gareth picked the biggest Trandoshan in the room and sidled up beside him at the bar, hoping to engage in some conversation. After some terse words between Gareth, the Trandoshan, and his lackeys, R0-81T decided that the most efficient course of action would be a swift metallic punch to a leathery face. Before long, the Trandoshan had been knocked unconscious over the bar and his lackeys had been either killed or otherwise incapacitated. The pair picked up their unconscious mark and made their way back to the ship (I think).

While this was going on, Theed and Dasha decided to visit an upscale cigar lounge hoping to find someone of low moral status and high wealth who would be able to invest such high-stakes blood sports. Watching a Shockboxing event on the holo screen, Theed did his best to seem extremely interested. This attracted the attention of a local businessman and slave owner named Thad, who was keen to meet another man of means and his “servant girl”. After some careful conversation, Theed and Thad (heh) engaged in a drinking contest, the winner providing information to the other.

As the two exchanged stories of slave rebellion and adventure, Dasha managed to slip some narcotics into Thad’s beverage which encouraged him to loosen up a little bit and provide some more personal information. After far too many beverages, Thad broke down – sobbing into his empty glass and lamenting involvement with “Raskurro the Butcher” in the local slave trade.

Satisfied with this information, an extremely inebriated Theed stood up and (with Dasha’s help) left the bar confident in his findings.

2 xp for the whole party for their night on the town.

You now are in possession of an unconscious Trandoshan of unknown name and origin.

You are now aware of a slaver known as Raskurro the Butcher.

What will you do next?

In Which a Modulated Voice Said “Clang” – 4 Oct 2015

Greetings, Spicy Smugglers!

The adventure last night was a good one. The party returned back to Unit Zulu, only to be chewed out by Trex for their recent “tactical operation” at the slave market. Clearly dissatisfied, Trex stormed off, but Jayde was able to salvage the operation by providing guidance and information about the Slavers‘ base of operations out in the basalt wastes.

After speaking with Niko and “interrogating” the Auctioneer, the party decided to perform a reconnaissance mission at the box canyon in which the slavers’ base entrance was discovered.

After climbing the jagged cliff-face up to the plateau at the canyons edge, the group immediately discovered evidence of a patrol. The group managed to sneak just ahead of the patrol (a sharpshooter team designated Watcher 2-1) long enough to observe an armoured landspeeder offload a new group of prisoners at the gates of Iron Hold. On their return to the rappel site, however, R0-81T tripped and fell, hitting the ground with a metallic clatter.

Watcher 2-1 slowly approached the party, who hit the deck the moment the droid fell in an attempt to stay out of sight. With the sniper keeping his distance with rifle at the ready, the spotter approached towards the source of the sound and tossed a rock in the general direction of the clatter. Though the rock missed every member of the party, the droid said Clang, setting off a quick moment of combat.

Not wanting to use noisy blasters, the party attempted to engage Watcher 2-1 in melee. Realizing that it would take too long to reach them, Theed stood up and threw his vibrorapier towards the spotter. The blade struck the spotter in the middle of his chest, piercing his armour and fatally wounding him. While this happened, Gareth and R0-81T managed to scuttle towards the sniper with Dasha ran towards him. Gareth popped from the shadows to strike with his vibrosword – causing some pain but not quite wounding the sniper, who in turn struck Gareth with the butt of his Disruptor Rifle and then began running for help. Unable to make it to the melee in time, R0-81T produced a handful of long-concealed chili powder and hurled it at the sniper, but instead struck Dasha in the face causing momentary blindness.

The sniper initially fumbled for his radio, unable to find it in his shock and confusion. Eventually though he managed to distance himself from the party and call for help. The alarm sounded in Iron Hold, prompting the party to break from combat and head towards their ropes to make a successful escape down the cliffside.

Although the party was unable to avoid alerting the slavers, they did manage to get some very useful information about the facility which will be used to plan their upcoming rescue of Alwyn.

What will the party do next? Tune in next time!

Gee Ehm.

Leaping Lizards! – 24 Aug 2015

Busy at the moment, but quick overview is that the party met Gareth’s contact on Sleheyron, only to be ambushed by slavers (and nearly captured) in an alley. Arrived at Rebel special operations hideout, met Jayde Kadros and… a familiar Trandoshan buddy!

Cratala was turned to the Rebellion as per her wishes, party received some cash money, and Jayde asked them to look into a slaving operation run by a local Hutt group under the thumb of an Imperial Intelligence Service officer.

Mission, to be done in any order:

1. Infiltrate Imperial Intelligence – Assassinate Officer – Retrieve Data from Imperial Databanks – Stop the flow of information to the Hutts – If possible, discourage further surveillance on Sleheyron rebel activities.

2. Infiltrate Hutt slaver, possibly posing as buyers at a nearby slave market to gather info – Rescue captured Rebellion personnel – Determine location of Gareth’s cousin – If possible, eliminate slave consolidation center.

SO my question to the party: What would you all prefer to do first?

Where’d you Learn That Cheech, Drug School? – 17 Aug 2015

Greetings, you valiant street-fighting drug-smuggling intergalactic troublemakers!

In our last episode, the party stopped on Junction to take a breather after having managed to escape Space Australia with limbs intact and brains mostly not dead, the medic excluded. Dr. Cratala is hiding out on board The Encounter after pleading with the party to turn her over to the Rebellion.

After picking up some vital supplies, the party set their sights towards rearming themselves in the black markets of Junction. Gareth managed to find some information on a coveted and extremely rare blaster pistol that was in the possession of a Trandoshan weapons trader, and dragged Theed along as he went to sniff out its location. Da’Echa wisely stayed back aboard The Encounter to set up her new poison synthesis laboratory in her quarters. R0-81T was off doing whatever it is that R0-81T does in its down time.

Gareth and Theed arrived in the crowded market just as a gunfight broke out between the weapons dealer and his smuggler associate Corte, and their respective crews. Sitting in the shadows as gangsters and civilians alike were gunned down, Theed decided to make his move by stealing the weapon crate while cloaked, but otherwise in sight of the parties involved. At the same moment, Gareth emerged from the shadows to take down Corte with a shot to the head. The Trandoshan chased down Theed, tackling him and dealing some damage with his claws, which simultaneously firing a disruptor pistol at Gareth.

The “dynamic” duo got the better of the Trandoshan, though, with Gareth luring him up to a standing position and Theed stabbing him in the back with three quick jabs of his new Vibrorapier.

Though the box only contained a few contraband rifles, the party was able to track down the Trandoshan’s ship in its docking bay. After some charming words, significant bribes, and negotiation, they convinced the hired mercenaries to take a walk while the party took off with the Trandoshan’s ship. A ship which, as it turned out, was full of drugs and not guns. Gareth found his Nova Pistol though, so I guess that’s ok. R0-81T kept offering to “start a bank” and “give away free money”.

The party now awaits word from Gareth’s Rebellion contact before leaving Junction behind.

Game this Wednesday as usual. If it’s too hot in my house we’ll find somewhere else to go.
Oh, the party also managed to put an impromptu mercenary company on retainer. Thus may begin the fatal adventures of The Fighting Nexu.

Cliffhanger – 14 July 2015

Greetings, Cliffhangers!

Sorry for the late email – things have been busy!

In our last session most of the party found themselves in The Retreat, the fortified cliff-side enclave in which the survivors from the Sa Nalaor had been holed up for the last few decades. R0-81T was on its journey back from the small beach on which The Encounter was damaged during the party’s encounter with the Yiyar Clan. Having successfully repaired the cargo bay door, the journey back was underway.

While Theed, Gareth, and Da’Echa were attempting to break up an argument between Captain Harsol and Cratala, the camp was set on alert by the roar of a starship flying overhead followed by the audible engines of several speeders and repulsor lifts. The camp immediately went into lock down with survivors taking up arms and running to the walls.

Captain Harsol and Cratala ran to the HQ and lab. Harsol emerged wearing armour and holding onto a blaster and some old grenades, leveling his weapons at the party and accusing them of leading the Imperials to the jungle retreat. With some deft leadership and charm checks, the party convinced Harsol to instead focus his aggression at the Imperial forces just outside the camp walls.
As four probe droids descended through the treeline into the camp an Imperial Agent called to the survivors from the other side of the locked gate, imploring everyone to lay down their arms and promising sanctuary. Harsol replied with an impressive string of curses and obscenities.

During this exchange, Theed and Gareth decided that they were uncomfortable with the observing probe droids, and launched their attack. After a few seconds of shooting, Cratala indicated the presence of an EMP grenade in her lab. With Gareth providing cover, Theed heroically ran the gauntlet of blaster fire into the lab and found the grenade in a drawer. In a moment of inspiration, he ran into the middle of the cluster of droids and detonated the grenade in his hand hoping to disable all droids at once. Unfortunately the old grenade turned out to be less effective than modern designs and fizzled out in a very small radius, disabling only Theed’s own electronic equipment and weaponry.

It was at this point that a gun battle began between the survivors of The Retreat, and the Imperial forces outside the gate. With no other way out Theed, Da’Echa, and Gareth ran to the cliffside hangar at the back of the camp and faced the sheer drop towards the waters below. Without a moment to spare they rigged up climbing gear and dropped ropes down the cliff face to begin their descent.

Cratala left her cyber-nexu on guard in the hangar as Imperial forces closed in, having breached the gate with explosives and eliminated a number of the survivors including Captain Harsol. As they entered the hangar the cyber-nexu launched its attack, occupying two of the Imperial scout troopers as the other two fired their heavy blaster rifles over the ledge at the party who were completed exposed during their descent.

A few of the blaster charges struck their targets, with Theed getting knocked unconscious while hanging from his rope. As Gareth provided cover fire, Da’Echa heroically swung across the cliff face and hit Theed with a stimpack while the cyber-nexu continued its rampage through the Imperial forces above.

R0-81T arrived in a speeder car just as the party made it to the bottom of the cliff, and the group (Cratala included) managed to climb aboard just in time to watch the cyber-nexu tumble off the cliff with the last Imperial soldier in the squad. The pair disappeared into the river, leaving only the crackling sounds of the cyber-nexus enhancements as they fried upon contact with the water.

It was at this point that the session ended. Expecting things to carry on tomorrow evening if everyone is available.

Pop and Locktopus – 18 June 2015

Greetings, hairless apes!

In our adventure last night the party decided, like serial killers, to revisit the scene of a violent confrontation. After landing their ship near the front section of the Sa Nalaor, the party entered the jungle and followed a beaten path to a graveyard obviously built by the ships crew. Venturing slightly further, the party was halted as Da’Echa was set upon by, and I love this, an Arboreal Octopus. Shortly after she was grabbed, two more octopi emerged and a fight began!

With Gareth  being carried off to fulfill his nutritional duties (the ciiiiircle of liiiiiife), Theed decided to end his suffering early with a blaster shot to the back. Fortunately for Gareth, the shot didn’t quite end the misery of our pilot friend who managed to cut himself free with a *very* lucky critical roll from his vibrosword.

While this was going on, our R0-81T friend found itself entangled by an octopus. Using its T-1000-like strength, the droid punched the octo-arm and yanked the cephalopod from the jungle canopy. Failing to consider the consequences of a falling squid, the droid found itself stuck under the unconscious foe. Fortunately, Da’Echa finished the creature off with an execution-style blaster shot to the eye.

The party managed to finish off the other two squids, though (having not learned from previous events) Gareth also managed to find himself under a falling octopus. The impact rendered him unconscious, and the rest of the party finished the fight with some wounds to show for their efforts.

Heading back to the ship the party spotted the Nightflyer and its crew from the treeline. Setting up a careful ambush, the party managed to make short work of Yav Yiyar’s retinue, though they couldn’t stop the Rodian himself before he managed to blast The Encounters cargo bay door from its hinges. BLL1 put the Rodian down moments after that, breaking all of his limbs. The Sullistan pilot was the only one of the Yiyar crew that managed to escape the ambush, but couldn’t get the cargo bay closed before BLL2 found its way aboard. The ship took off, but made it mere kilometers before the party saw it slowly arc back towards the planet surface, crashing in a huge plume of dust and debris. Rest in pieces, BLL.

As the fight ended, a figure familiar to IT-3PO arrived with an entourage, carried on the backs of three very large amphibious reptiles. The leader was none other than Captain Harsol, who has evidently survived both the crash of the Sa Nalaor and the subsequent decades. Looking weathered and wearing patchwork clothing, the Captain expressed his gratitude to IT-3PO and introduced himself to the party. The real question, of course, is how both Captain Harsol and the Yiyar Clan found The Encounter at the same location at the same time.

This is where we left off. No opportunity for extra-game actions, as we’re in the midst of an introduction.

I am, however, making some changes to XP awards. Instead of handing XP out at the end of the chapter, I will be issuing XP as the conditions listed at the end of the chapter are met. Thus, XP as follows:

2 XP for navigating the Chol Nebula upon entry into the system.

5 XP for searching for the surface of the Sa Nalaor.

3 XP for discovering the escape pod 34 Besh.

5 XP for surviving the Cyber-Nexu assault.

5 XP for searching the main hull of the Sa Nalaor.

That’s a total of 20 XP for everyone in this chapter so far.

A Purr-fect Evening – 16 June 2015

Greetings, Sapient Scratch-Posts!

Last session was a good one, but I’m going to describe it quickly due to overwhelming work.

1. Party enters ship.

2. Clank clank scratch skitter.

3. Ooh, the bridge!

4. Ow, shit, ow. Go away kitty!

5. Disassemble kitties for parts.

6. When did it get so dark outside?

7. Find a nice quiet sandbar isolated from land, sleep.

And thus the party finds themselves nursing wounds in the ship a few kilometers from the crash site.
